The AMD BEAST project.
I finally got tired of people bossing me around and off my small crappy
Intel Pentium 4 computer. (no offence to those who have Pentium) So I
started to build myself a big AMD beast computer. I had to work hard and
save a lot of money in order to get all the parts for the pc but I am
managing without the pizza and curry for now.
The idea came when a pal on the net was telling me how he was always
building pc's. So I decided to build the monster machine.
Day one : zip file here
On day one I assembled quite a lot. I started off by spending hours
scanning over the smooth pages of the abit motherboard manual. I then
took some studs and fixed the brand new motherboard onto the casing.
This was the easy bit. I then decided to attach the processor : amd
2600xp.
It was easier than I had anticipated. The processor fitted like a glove
on the socket A mobo. Then I needed to install the heatsink and fan.
This is very easy although tricky for your first time. It just requires
a screw driver to pop it into place.
I swiped the sweat beads from my head and called it a day. The final
thud of the case closing was the final assembly I did on day one of the
project.
